Before this census, Lionville was recorded as Lionville-Marchwood with “Marchwood” referring to the housing development that began in the early 1960s located south of the 100-113 intersection.
Lionville is bisected by two highways that are a major route in Pennsylvania. PA 100 and PA 113. Lionville is a very diverse area with many residential neighborhoods, hotels, restaurants, and other small businesses. Prior to being named Lionville the area was known as Welsh Pool. The name was changed to honor the local Red Lion Inn. The name “Red Lion” had been taken already as a borough so Lionville became the new name.
